Urban Skiing Oslo Sognsvann

Urban skiing in Oslo is magical with the transition from the hectic pulse of the center of Oslo to the peaceful mindfulness of the forest with an infinity of well-made ski tracks. After a short metro ride from the center of Oslo in 10-15 minutes (Metro line 5 to Sognsvann), a paradise of cross-country skiing opens up.

Oslo people are used to meet people in ski gear going straight into the pub from the metro after skiing. Afterski with happy hour beer drinking is a culture in Norway and you can do it in the village ski resort or urban Oslo.

The trip between Sognsvann and Ullevålseter is a trip that everyone can take. Most have also passed it. This walk of just over half a mile is one of the most used walking trails in the Oslo area. It is easily accessible, easy to walk and absolutely safe for those who do not know the area.

There are official signs that show the ski tracks straight ahead and anyway there are many friendly Norwegians who will help you if you gget lost. The tracks are two-lane, well-groomed with lighting in the evening but if you want to explore or take a short cut then there are also plenty of lakes to ski on.

Ullevålseter
Ullevålseter is a hub in the south of Nordmarka with hiking trails, ski slopes and paths. The light trails that were built in the sixties run both from Sognsvann and Frognerseteren. The restaurant is open Tuesday – Sunday 9-17 all year round. The cabin is closed on Mondays. In July, opening hours are: 10am-4pm all days except Monday.
Snow Horse
At Ullevålseter there lives a horse that roams freely. It is small, kind and can be enjoyed by the kids.
Nordmarka
In Nordmarka there are many small lakes that you can cross and all trails are marked with sticks and signs.
